| Ken,
I can't thank you enough for preaching for us at First Newark! You did a great job and the whole revival was a real blessing. I was hoping for more response, but I'm content in the knowledge that we serve a sovereign God who is in control. I learned a long time ago if I can talk someone into a decision, someone else can talk them out of it...but if God does a work in their heart, it sticks! After the last service, one of my young adult members ask me what I was going to do for next year. They said that the last two revivals had been the best they had ever attended! You really are one of my favorite preachers! You are also very real and personable. I know the love offering didn't blow you away, but I hope it was enough to get you to the next place God has for you. God used you here and we are going to be blessed for a long time as a result of you being here. We love you in Christ and will always be praying for you! Hope to see you again, soon. Sincerely, Mike I could not let this first day back pass without letting you know how much The Lord blessed me through your ministering to us this past weekend at The cove. I need to laugh and I did, a lot! I needed to cry and I did-grown men can cry. I needed to have my priorities rearranged and you have helped me begin that. I needed to know some practical ways to make The Lord a real presence in my everyday life and you helped me discover how to do that. I needed to hear some experiences from everyday, down-to-earth life about how to deal with the past, with failure. I needed to hear things like how to start each day (note the things The Lord said to you yesterday). I needed to hear about no white meat until older (been there, done that). I needed to hear about dad's having problems with sons (been there, still there). The Lord knew how much I needed to hear and be taught by you, Ken Smith. If you ever needed a cheer leader you got one now! God bless you and thank you so very much. (You probably don't need to be told that while David Jeremiah was also a blessing, he was the warm-up for the main attraction.) John Garriss Raleigh, N. C. Ken, I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much your words meant to me. I admit I did not know you before hearing you Saturday morning, but after 2 days of your sessions, I will never forget you. I'm sure your "ears must've been burning" Sunday afternoon, because if the other guys' cars were like ours heading down the mountain, you were talked about a lot! We appreciate your spending your time with us and the messages you shared. Hope to see you again soon. Kindest regards, Rick Holt Ken, Well... You have officially become my #1 favorite inspirational speaker. This weekend at The Cove was truly inspirational! We listened, we laughed, we cried, and most importantly, we become closer with our Heavenly Father. This is my third trip with the men's group to The Cove and the 3rd time I heard you speak. You would think that I would get tired of your stories, but they simply get better the more you hear them. I enjoyed your "Thanksgiving" story so much last year that I played the tape to my family this year before our Thanksgiving dinner. Please keep up the outstanding work. You have an amazing ability to combine The Word with humor and drama to really bring to life the Bible. If you ever plan a trip to Raleigh, please let me know. I'd love to take you to breakfast, lunch, dinner; or, if you need a place to stay, my wife and I have plenty of room. And, with all the hustle and noise, I pray that you will also take time to hear the shuffling of sandals in the sand and the whisper of our lord. Good Luck and God Bless!!! Gordon L. Blackwell Chief Technology Officer Hi, Ken, I can call you Ken because I feel I know you well after sitting behind you all week in the choir at Thomson FBC. What a blessing you were to us all this week! Thank you for letting God use you in such a mighty way. I am an Ele. PE teacher and was amazed at the number of my HighSchool coaches and PE buddies were in our church for the first time, drawn by the fact that you love football. I have talked to several who where touched by Gods words through you. None of us could have ever done that. My husband and I are very active in FBC along with our three children. Our 16 year old girl and 9 year old boy have made a public confession and been baptized. Our 14 year old daughter has not of yet and many are praying for her. She is wonderful child and very quite and we all thought this week was going to be her time. As the crowds increased she moved farther back in the room, then the balcony. I heard God whisper to me each night during the invitation...be patient, shes mine. I wan! t you to continue to pray for her and know that it was the most amazing thing the number of stories you used that totally captured her attention. We feel the time will be soon in a quiet setting. Also know that we truly know what a fine pastor and family we have and we thank God daily for placing them in our lives. God Bless You, India Anne Goodyear Brother Ken, Once again, Thank You for your openess to God's use. No one could have been better utilized in the Area Wide Crusade in Sylvania. Your bounding voice, boldness in the word, and loving, humerous attitude toward those in attendance was a true and worshipful experience. Jim and Melanie Loyd FBC Sylvania Hello Ken, My name is Josh Thomas and I am a student as Eastern Kentucky University. I attended Wednesday's meeting on Feb. 21. Your words struck home to me and I really want to recommit myself to the Lord. As you said, you talked to a group of millionaires and most of all of them lacked a faith in God. That opened my eyes quite a bit. I recently ended a five year relationship and it was very hard on me. As you said, life is full of storms and one just has to rise above. It is very comforting to rest my feelings and thoughts with the Lord. Anyhow, I would just like to send a personal thank you, to you for opening my eyes as now the greatest part of my life lies ahead. Sincerely, Josh Dear Ken! Hi, my name is Cortney. I attended the Youth Conference held on Dec. 28-29, 2000. I just wanted to let you know that you touched a lot of people's lives tremendously! I am a young Christian teenager and I realized that I have been back sliding a bit. I have prayed about it and I have decided to do better in whatever way I can. I will do whatever it takes because God is worth a lot more to me than whatever it is I have been doing. My friend from church, Heather, is 16 years old and she is very strong in her Christian faith and her walk with God. She is one of the many that surrendered to the ministry while we were there. That is Great because she can set a wonderful example to the rest of the teenagers in our youth group and to the younger ones that are growing up. I hope that God will use her to touch lives just like you. You are a great preacher and I hope too see you some time again. Sincerely, Cortney <>< Ken, I just wanted you to know that you really brought some much needed refreshment to my faith this weekend. I am so into the part about affecting other peoples lives , that it pains me to see how non-Christians or even Christians are treated throughout the day. You have just reinforced my belief that the way to a mans heart is through a friendship and sincerely caring for their livelihood as well as their future. I have made some choices in my life that I am not proud of , but we all have , but it seems that over the last few weeks the Lord has been telling me that I need to really chase after opportunities to minister to people. Once I started chasing I caught them and then some. Thank you for your encouragement, know that I will also be encouraging others in the same way that our have encouraged me. It is awesome when God sends someone to us that thinks and acts the same way we do, so that we can see that he does want us just being real. I am not as crazy as you, but if I stay in the church much longer I will be. thanks again, A.J. Main KEN, WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME IT WAS SEEING YOU AT THE CARSON-NEWMAN CLINIC. I AM THANKFUL THAT COACH SPARKS HAD YOU COME AND SPEAK. GOD IS REALLY DOING GREAT THINGS IN MY LIFE AS WELL AS MY WIFE'S LIFE. COACH SCOTT ADKINS WOODRUFF HIGH SCHOOL WOODRUFF,SC DEAR KEN, PEASE BE SURE TO READ ALL OF THIS EMAIL, KEN. MY NAME IS MARK FARLEY, YOU MAY NOT KNOW ME, BUT THAT IS OK. BECAUSE WHETHER YOU KNOW IT OR NOT YOU HAVE MADE A MASSIVE IMPACT ON MY LIFE AS I HAVE GROWN UP IN THE LAST 6 YEARS. I AM WRITING THIS MESSAGE TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN THE AREA OF SERVING GOD. I RECEIVED SOME DISTURBING INFORMATION A DAY OR TWO AGO. I WAS INFORMED YOU WERE CONSIDERING NOT DOING FCA CAMPS IN THE SUMMER ANY MORE. THAT WOULD BE A CRIME AND A TRAGEDY TO THE WORLD. LET ME EXPLAIN WHY I HAVE THAT PREVIOUS COMMENT. I MET A FRIEND OF YOURS ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO. HE WAS ME COACH. HIS NAME WAS COACH NOEL CHERRY. HIS DECIDED IT WAS HIS GOAL IN LIFE TO GET ME AND MY TWIN BROTHER TO GO TO SOME WEEK LONG GET AWAY IN BLACK MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA. AFTER MUCH PRODDING HE CONVINCED US TO GO. WHEN HE SAID IT WAS GOING TO BE FREE, WELL LETS JUST SAY THAT IS ALL HE HAD TO SAY. AFTER GIVING MY LIFE TO CHRIST JUST 3 MONTHS BEFORE, HE SAID IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR ME. SO TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT WE WENT. WHEN I GOT THERE ALL I KNEW WAS I WAS IN A GROUP WITH 11 PEOPLE I HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE AND A SCARED TO DEATH 5'3" 125LB 14 YEAR OLD. AND READY TO GO HOME I WAS. BUT COACH CONVINCED ME TO GIVE IT A TRY. SO WE WENT AND GOT THIS WEIRD LOOKING BIBLE THAT HAD A BIG HAND ON IT AND SAID "CHAMPIONS IN CHRIST". THAT WAS FAR FROM MY LEATHER BOUND KJV I HAD ALWAYS GROWN UP WITH. AND THAT NIGHT I WAS IN A BIG ROOM WITH 1000 PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THINGS I HAD NEVER BEEN AROUND. I LEARNED A SONG THAT BROUGHT TEARS TO THE FACE OF A SCARED 14 YEAR OLD WHO WAS TRYING TO PLAY TOUGH. IT WAS TITLED "LORD I LIFT YOUR NAME ON HIGH". THEN AN OLD ROUGH NECK FOOTBALL PLAYER GOT ON STAGE AND STARTING SHOWING FILM OF WHERE HE KNOCKED OUT PEOPLE LIKE JOE NAMMOTH. THEN THIS MAN SHARED WHAT HE HAD BEEN THROUGH AND HOW GOD SAVED AND HOW THAT CHANGED HIS LIFE. KEN THAT NIGHT I SAW OVER 260 PEOPLE GIVE THEIR LIVES TO CHRIST. FROM THAT POINT ON I WAS HOOKED. AND YOU KNOW WHAT NOTHING PREPARED ME FOR THE NEXT MORNING. SOME YOUNG FOOTBALL PLAYER TRIED TO GET ME TO DO SOMETHING CALLED A QUIET TIME. LATER WE WERE BACK IN THE GREAT BIG ROOM AND THE INTRODUCED A GREAT THEOLOGIAN WHO WAS GOING TO TEACH US SOME SPIRITUAL TRUTHS. I THEN SAW A CHARACTER CALLED JAKE THE SNAKE WHO SPENT HIS MORNINGS TEACH ME HOW TO SPEND TIME WITH MY NEW SAVIOR. THOSE TRUTHS I STILL USE TODAY. WELL CAMP CAME AND WENT BUT GOD DID NOT CAUSE OF WHAT I WAS TAUGHT AT CAMP. AND I EVEN REMEMBER A MAN WHO LOOKED JUST LIKE THAT JAKE THE SNAKE FELLOW COMING TO OUR JUNIOR HIGH AND SPEAKING ON THE LION KING ONE DAY. WELL I WAS HOOKED ON FCA CAMP AFTER THAT SO THE NEXT YEAR I INVITED SOME OF MY FRIENDS AND A MAN CAME AND SPOKE ABOUT A BIBLE CHARACTER NAMED GIDEON AND HIS ARMY. MANY OF MY FRIENDS GOT SAVED THAT NIGHT AND I LEARNED THAT NO MATTER WHAT THE SITUATION I WAS GOING TO STAND WITH GOD. THE NEXT YEAR GOD DID A GREAT WORK IN MY LIFE AT RHE SAME CAMP. I HEARD THE SAME MAN SPEAK ABOUT GIDEON AGAIN AND JUST THOUGHT, "WHOOO, I HAVE HEARD THIS MESSAGE BEFORE SO I WONT HAVE TO MAKE A DECISION TONIGHT." WELL I WAS WRONG. GOD DEALT WITH ME THAT NIGHT AND WANTED ME TO LEARN ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS OF MY LIFE. I WENT SEARCHING TO KNOW WHAT GOD WAS GOING TO DO WITH ME. AND CAME OUT LEARNING HOW TO GET TO KNOW GOD. KEN WATSON WAS THE PERSON WHO HANDLED THE PEOPLE WHO HAD DECISIONS THAT NIGHT, BUT THE ANSWERS HE GAVE ME THAT NIGHT DID NOT SEEM TO BE WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. THEN OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE I SAW THIS SHORT FELLOW WITH HIS ARMS WIDE OPEN. HE ASKED ME WHAT MY DECISION WAS ABOUT, AND I WASN'T SURE. THAT MAN THAT NIGHT TAUGHT ME HOW TO READ THE WORD OF GOD IN A WAY THAT I COULD UNDERSTAND IT AND HOW TO LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF GOD. IT CHANGED MY WHOLE RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS. I NEVER KNEW HE WOULD SPEAK TO YOU IF YOU LET HIM. HE ALSO WAS A FRIEND OF YOURS HIS NAME IS DAVID LEE. AND HE HAS CHECKED UP ON ME EVER SINCE. WELL YOU NEVER GUESS WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. GOOD OLE COACH CAME TO MY TWIN AND I AND SAID WHY DON'T YOU AND YOU BROTHER GO TO FCA LEADERSHIP CAMP AT BRISTOL. WELL JUST DAYS AFTER MY FIRST EXPERIENCE OF HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD IN MY QUIET TIME I WAS AT BRISTOL, TN. AND WE HAD A GUY BY THE NAME OF KEN SMITH WHO WOULD BE OUR SPEAKER THE WHOLE WEEK. I EXPECTED TO HEAR A LOT ABOUT GIDEON, BUT INSTEAD I LEARNED HOW TO LOVE AND SERVE AND LEAD AND HOW TO GO "STRONG TO THE FINISH." THE NEXT 2 YEARS OUR HIGH SCHOOL FCA WAS NEVER THE SAME. PRAISE BE TO GOD WE SAW OVER 150 PEOPLE GIVE THEIR LIVES TO CHRIST AND HAVE OVER 1071 OUT OF 2200 COME TO A MEETING. I DID NOT THINK THINGS COULD BE ANY BETTER THAN BEING A FCA OFFICER. UNTIL I GOT A CALL 3 DAYS BEFORE BLACK MOUNTAIN 98 FROM A LEGION IN MY EYES SID CALLOWAY. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT ME AND MY BRO WERE GOING TO BE HUDDLE LEADERS. A DREAM COME TRUE IT WAS. WE GOT THERE AND EACH HAD 12 MIDDLE SCHOOLERS. I THOUGHT THE WEEK WOULD KILL ME. AND I HEARD AGAIN THAT KEN SMITH WOULD BE SPEAKING AGAIN. AND I WAS EXCITED FOR ME AND MY HUDDLE. IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE ME IN CHARGE OF THE LIVES OF 12 OTHERS. THAT NIGHT YOU SPOKE ABOUT PETER GETTING OUT OF THE BOAT AND THE LADY WITH THE FORK. WELL EVEN THOUGH THE WEEK FOR ME AND MY BRO WAS NOT TO POSITIVE YET I SAW THREE OF MY HUDDLE AND 8 OF MY BROTHER'S HUDDLE GO GET THEIR FORKS THAT NIGHT. AND THE SAME AGAIN THIS SUMMER, WITH THE LIVES OUR THE STUDENTS IN OUR HUDDLES. KEN I REALLY RESPECT YOU IN ALL YOU DO. BUT PLEASE FOR THE GENERATION TO COME, DON'T GIVE UP FCA CAMPS. THERE WILL BE SCRAWNY LITTLE 14 YEAR OLD'S LIKE ME AT EACH AND EVERY CAMP THAT NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU. RIGHT NOW I AM 20 YEARS OLD AND JESUS IS JUST AS REAL TODAY AS HE WAS WHEN I ACCEPTED HIM, BUT IT THANKS TO MEN LIKE YOU. I ATTEND TENNESSEE TECH FCA WHERE I AM INVOLVED AND LOVE IT. I GOT TO HELP COACH CHERRY COACH HIS TEAM THIS YEAR BECAUSE WE SAW 15-20 OF THE TEAM GET SAVED AT BLACK MOUNTAIN. ME AND MIKE ARE VISITING AND LOVING ON THOSE KIDS AT THAT SCHOOL WEEKLY. AND HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP LEAD THE KIDS IN OUR YOUTH GROUP AT CHURCH AND SEE THEM GROW WITH THE SAME PRINCIPLES YOU INSTILLED IN ME WHEN I WAS YOUNG. THAT IS WHERE GOD HAS BROUGHT ME TO RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF MEN LIKE YOU, COACH CHERRY, AND DAVID LEE. DON'T STOP. FCA CAMP NEEDS YOU, AND THE CAMPERS OF TOMORROW NEED YOU. I HAVE INCLUDE A PICTURE OF HUDDLE 2 WHO WENT HOME FROM CAMP EACH WITH A RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST. THESE GUYS AND OTHERS ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THE FORKS AND MADEE GOOSE. KEN YOU INSPIRE ME. AND I JUST WANTED TO WRITE THIS TO ENCOURAGE YOU. BY THE WAY COACH CHERRY GAVE ME YOU ENCOURAGING WORDS DEVO BOOK AND IT IS A REAL BLESSING. I heard this great person speak this fall at the Rainsberger's 1st convention in Orlando. He really touched my heart and my husband's, especially when he told the story of "The Dash". I bawled like a baby. Makes you think of what is in between birth and death. I want to make a difference. I've always believed but have had a hard time attending a church as I have seen so much hypocracy. People going to church, yet not practicing the word everyday. I have a picture on our wall of a cowboy kneeling and saying a prayer in front of a root that has grown out from the bank in the shape of a cross. Even his horse is bowing his head. The name of the painting is "His Church is on The Mountain Top. I've always believed that your place of worship can be anywhere. Anyway, sorry I'm bending your e-mail ear, but just had to tell someone. Thank you, Annie Metcalf Hi Ken I just wanted to drop an email and let you know that I've heard you speak at the Woods/Knickman functions for the past few years and at the countdown 2000 function that has just past you have out done yourself again . On Sunday I and my wife along with friends felt a strong movement of the Holy Spirit . More Importantly though it is your down to earth honest way you spread the Word and encourage. Look forward to seeing you at the next function I think in March .GOD BLESS you and yours !!! Steve Deutsch Brantford,Ontario Canada HEY! I want you to know that we will keep u in our prayers and ask that you do the same as we start our new life together. Your invitation is in the mail. God Bless You and your ministry. Your friend In Christ.....Larry Creasy Mr. Ken Smith: I would like to thank you. I was at the Amway/Quixtar function this weekend (Oct. 15 - 17). I very much enjoyed you talks, as I do your 'Encouraging Word' that I receive on Amvox. You are truly an inspiration. I had the good fortune of having my children with me this weekend instead of the usual -- leaving them with their grandparents. Sunday morning was wonderful ! When you can hold the attention of my my boys (ages: 8,12, & 14) you can consider the program a success. Thank you so much for being there. I cannot express how wonderful it was to here you speak. Ken, Thanks for your outstanding messages at our revival! Last night was awesome (I'm just thankful I wore steel toed boots! )...thanks for your honest, straight from your heart, bible based preaching. John Fulton PREPARATION, PRAYER, CREATIVITY AND STRONG MUSIC HIGHLIGHT THE DAYS AT JACKSONVILLE NORTH CAROLINA I would assume we all know that revival preparation is important. But every time we have a great week like Jacksonville it is so apparent that the coming together of the folks for preparing for revival works. The use of the tent, the events for kids and teenagers were all successful and added to the great week. Rick McCollum of Columbia lead the music and a revival choir each night was a highlight. Each night decisions were recorded and God was at work. ----------------- Ken, I just got your kind letter and you do not even know how much it means to me. it came at a perfect time for me. you have no way knowing this but my mother died suddenly three weeks ago and i have experienced one of those deserts in my life. God has wrapped his arms around me and my family and truly been the great comforter. please pray for dad. he lives not far from you in Goose Creek, S.C.. he is doing really well and his faith is an encouragement to me and pam. again thanks for your prayers. i think of my time this summer very often. may God bless you and your ministry. your brother in Christ richard Richard H. Koehler Email: Richard.H.Koehler@samford.edu Samford University My name is Sue. My husband Terry (6 ft tall and 300 lbs) just as a reminder, and my daughter Julie, tall, thin and lovely (uck) have heard you several times at Steve and Annette's functions. On July 5 (I think) of 1997 we were called to Christ through your wonderful ability and the marvelous ministry of Mark Dickerson. my daughter who was 13 at the time was the actual catalyst. when you made the alter call she took each of us by the hand and led us up front. God did say "...and a little child shall lead them." Since then, we have become members of an Evangelical Free Church and worked in small bible study groups. My middle child, Cathie, who is 18 has recently started attending church irregularly and says she is almost ready to make a commitment to the Lord. Praise God! My oldest is Ben, he is 20 now and has been in all kinds of trouble including jail time for the last five years or so. This past Sunday he surprised me and everyone else by coming to church! He says it was only for purposes of learning but it was communion Sunday and our Elder spoke because our Pastor was on his way home from a three week missions trip to India. He spoke eloquantly, even though the poor man is almost a perfect melancholy so I know how hard it is for him (it takes one to know one) but I am praying that his words which were so richly given by the Spirit will be used in his work on Ben. I thank you for all you do and I hope it is nice to hear that much of what you are led to do has profound effect not only on those who hear but on how they then affect other lives. God Bless You Richly, in His Service, Sue Nicholoy We attended the service at Roswell First Baptist Church last night. It was a blessing to my wife and me. Your attitude and approach to your ministry is both refreshing and novel in an age of pre-manufactured "stay in the box" churches and ministers. I pray your time at Roswell will ignite, or better yet, re-ignite some fires in the that local congregation. We are not members there, but have many good friends and greatly appreciate the focus and ministry Ron has brought to Roswell. God bless, Gene and Ruth Mikell Ken, You made quite an impression on our children (Charlie'15 & Lindsay'13) @ Super WOW.. Ft. Walton.. They asked us to attend the revival @ the Baptist Church (We're Methodist) ...We're proud they did. Faye and I really enjoyed your message. You should rejoice in the fact that you have made a difference in theirs and our lives. Keep up the good work. GOD Bless. The Perdue's (Chip, Faye, Charlie & Lindsay) P.S. Looking forward to reading the books. What a wonderful week. The comments have flooded me this evening as our services have come to a close. I want you to know how much I appreciate your friendship. Though we don't talk that much, we seem to pick up where we left off when we do have the chance to see one another. As a young pastor, I appreciate that. Thanks for being open to come to a small town and a small church such as Greenville. My church, my people, and myself have benefitted because of your willingness. Keep in touch and God Bless you always. I know that you tell me all the time to call you if I need you and I will, but if I can ever do anything for you, let me know. I owe you one. Have a great one!! Your Friend, Jonathan Ken: I just wanted to drop a short note to you to let you know how much we enjoyed listening to you speak in Miami. We also enjoy your "Encouraging Word" Amvoxes that we receive on a regular basis. They are wonderful! We look forward to hearing you speak again, and thanks for the encouragement! Steve & Nancy Dunfee POMPANO FIRST BAPTIST AND DAYS OF REST On Sunday July 11 Ken returned for the first time to Pompano Beach First Baptist to preach since he started his ministry. Ken never got to say good bye to this great church...one of those great ending deals that is hard to explain; so this was a good time for all of us. Ken, Donnelle and Rich enjoyed the week in south Florida and had a great time with the Kennedys and riding bikes on the place he did for years...Deerfield Beach. Ken will be home on Tuesday and will be on the road this week at Black Mountain and Tulsa Oklahoma before heading to Ft. Walton for Super Wow. KEN'S NEW EDITION OF ENCOURAGING WORDS IS OUT AND INFORMATION ABOUT ISRAEL ALL IN THIS WEEK The week ahead will see the new book out and the information about the Israel trip. Stand bye for the rest of the story this week. Hi, Ken, The Sorrells returned home from Coaches Camp completely renewed in our calling as a coach's family. If the Lord brought one thing home to me during the week, it was that I didn't become a coach's wife by "default," but just as God called Tim to be a coach, He also called me to be a coach's wife! What a wonderful opportunity we have to minister together, and I praise my God for that! You continue to be my "All-Time Favorite Preacher", and I thank you for the way you brought the Word to us this week. Our boys, Caleb and Jordan, got so much out of the chapel time with you; you made the Bible so everyday-real for them... I continue to pray for you, your family, and your ministry -- even if you continue to make snide remarks about the color of my hair. My daddy taught me that I have to refrain from retaliating with the elderly... Glory! Tracy Sorrells Super WOW Comments I just got back from SuperWow today and I feel that you touched me in such a way that I just had to write you and tell you. This was my first year at SuperWow and you made it something that I will always remember. What you said to me really hit home and made me think. I made many life changing decisions while I was there and really started talking to God and most importantly began doing more listening. I have always read my Bible and prayed but you made me see a little more and I believe that what you said made me think and made me see that I can't only have a relationship with God half heartidly. And I know that if I really live for him only then will I truely live. It was also really nice to see all them people there teenagers and all that were for Christ. Because sometimes I feel alone around my peers because there are so many that just do not live for him how they should. But seeing all them there was so uplifting. It was an awsome experience and I am glad you were there to preach to us. I know this probably does not mean a whole lot from a 15 year old girl. But you are so talented and I am glad God sent you to us this week. Thanks again, Hollly Williams Hi Mr. Smith, I was at SuperWow in Jekyll last week I really appreciate all that you said. Especially your..."I wish he hadn't said that" sermons. The sermon on Luke-warm people and how Jesus would spit them out of his mouth really made me think. A lot of people in my youth group are luke-warm. I really think that that sermon made a lot of the people in my youth group think. It really made me think. I really will try my best not to be luke-warm. You were great. Oh, Yeah, my name is Christy Thornton from Statham First Baptist Church. I'm twelve and going into the seventh grade. Everything you said really made me think. Thanks Mr. Smith, I was at SuperWow this past weekend and I just want to thank you for being there. I think you did a very good job, you certainly have a style of your own. By the way, I liked the blonde jokes. I also bought your book and got you to sign it. You have a gift of preaching to people and you did a great job last week. I just wanted to thank you and let you know I'll be reading your book. I've had some problems in my life that I'm trying to work out now. I just pray that I'll be able to carry out my commitment with God and become stronger in Him instead of move away like I usually do after going to these kind of camps. I had a great time and I believe I made a commitment that I will be able to follow and I just want to be share God with people without fear of mockery or rejection. I don't hang out at Walmart of Burger King but I have enough problems at school to deal with; there are certainly more lost people at my school than those who are saved. I want to thank you again and I hope I'll be able to hear you speak again. See ya later. Graham Watkins It was a blessing to see the Father work though you this past week at Jekyll Island. I was one of the adults with Jim Dunn's group from Scotts Hill Baptist Church. It is my prayer that the Lord will continue to speak though you. The youth of our group seem to really enjoy you and I know the adults did. You spoke to me and provided encouragement in my daily walk with the Lord this week. I WILL keep you and your family in my prayers. May the Lord watch over us while we are absent one from the other. Brother in Christ, Mike Sandlin Dear Ken, My name is Krystal Jenkins and I live in Starkville, Mississippi and attend FBC. I went to the Youth Evangalism Conference this past December when you spoke, and to this day am still using the wonderful things that you said to get me through everyday. As a teeneage young person it takes all the strength I have to get through everyday. It gets hard but the things you have said and he lessons you have taught have really helped me. As i have fallen further and and further away from God i have been able to get back on track by going over the notes i got from your lessons. For that I thank you. You are a true blessing in the lives of many people my age. Thanks again. In Christ, Krystal Dear Ken, I want to personally thank you for your week of inspiration !!! The youth that we took were greatly impressed by your words. They realized that they really did know Jake. They also loved your style of preaching. The youth felt like you were preaching just for them. Thanks, Ray Smith First Baptist Church, Richlands, N.C. Ken, Hi! My name is Chris Gastardi and I attended the Youth Evangelism Conference at Caswell during the week of May 31st-June4th. I just want you to know that you were a great inspiration to me and God is using you in an almighty and powerful way. I attend Coats Baptist church, we were the ones that wore the blue t-shirts at the evening service at Hatch. I also enjoyed your speaking last year at Caswell to. I have blessed in being able to hear your preaching of the word of God for the past two summers at Caswell. Maybe you remember who I am. I ask that you pray for me as I begin ministering to lost souls and as I preach at churches and I will be praying for you and your ministry. I look forward to the future of seeing you again hopefully at Caswell again. I will be going back to Caswell next week for a Youth Conference. Thanks for all you do and God Bless!!!! Brother-in-Christ Chris Gastardi Dear Mr. Smith, The week of May 31- June 4 was the week that my youth from my church went to Caswell were you were the speaker! To me you were the greatest speaker that I have heard there at Caswell! The name of my church is First Baptist of China Grove, NC! Our group saw you one morning when you were riding your bike around campus! Thank you so much for what you did for me and all the others. Thank you!!! If you have time please e-mail me back. I know that you will probably be busy! I e-mailed you just to say you are a great speaker (God has given you such a great talent) and to thank you! Have a great summer! Jessica Phillips from First Baptist Church, China Grove Mr. Smith, Hello! My name is Drew Wheeler and I went with my church's youth group (Grace Baptist Church--Wilson, NC) to Caswell this week! It was my first time going. I want to tell you that you are a great speaker and that I was glad to be able to listen to your sermon every morning and night in the Hatch Auditorium! I enjoyed the whole week, it was one of the best weeks in my life and I am already looking forward to next year! Thank you for coming and sharing Jesus with me and so many other people! I attended the Evangelism Week at Ft. Caswell May 31-June 4, and it has really changed my outlook on life. I am a 16 year old who attends Rozier Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC. I really loved the way you spoke to us during the worship services, you used everyday words and everyday things that I as a teen have to go through. I became a Christian when I was 12 years old and although I have never doubted my faith in Christ, I was doing un-Christian things and becoming very unhappy. And after listening to what you had to say I realized I wouldn't be happy again until I quit those horrible things I was doing and let God have complete control over my life. The Evangelism week couldn't have come at a better point in my lie because I was going down hill fast and as you said, "it smelled like hog." But I just wanted to thank you, because it just meant so much to me, and I wish you the best of luck in helping other people straighten their lives out. Also, will you please keep me in your prayers to help me resist the temptations that I know I will face. Thank you. Sincerely, Amanda Reeves Dear Ken, I wanted to let you know how much the revival time at Bon Air baptist Church in Richmond meant to us. You are such a special Evangelist and wonderful speaker. We enjoyed every single night. My daughter and I introduced ourselves to you on Sunday. We use to live in Gardendale and attend Riverland Hills Baptist. Our daughter, Autumn, who is a senior at James Madison, will be leaving for Zambia in June with Campus Crusade for Christ. It would mean so much to us if you would keep her in your prayers. I will never forget your "trademark"..the quiet shuffling of sandal feet. Jesus seems so close to me when I think of him that way. And how we love him and praise his name. Thank you for a wonderful three days with you and Dave Hunt. May God bless you as you lead other churches, and please remember that we will be praying for you each and every day. I hope to get your book soon as well! May God bless you, Your Sister in Christ, Mary Smith and Autumn Hi Mr. Smith... I was at the Bon Air Baptist Church Revival this past week. I was a friend of the "blonde cheerleader." And I wanted to thank you so much for coming and speaking. I have been a Christian for as long as I can remember but it is so awesome to have the Word reinforced! My family has been going through a lot in the past couple of months and everything about what you talked was SO encouraging and comforting! It really hit home...hard. A few weeks ago I started sending a Daily Verse e-mail to my friends every night. In it I put a verse and my opinion of the verse. Since then I have become a lot closer to my FATHER and have been able to help some of my friends also. It is amazing the love that God has for his children and the way he bundles us in his loving arms! So thank you so much for speaking and sharing with us! I also love your saying about hearing sandalfeet...when you said it, I felt a lot of peace. I am praying for you and your family and your ministry! May God bless you and keep you safe! Thanks again! Love in the Father! Brittany. Ken, I am a retired minister's wife (as well as a retired conference coordinator for the University of Georgia at the Rural Development Center in Tifton) and was privileged to listen to the services via television while you were in Tifton. My husband was able to attend the services all but one night; I was recovering from surgery. Your sermons were so timely and down to earth and a blessing to me. We think we have the greatest pastor in all the world, Wayne Roe. We have been in the First Baptist Church less than a year, and our hearts are always blessed. It is so good to be fed spiritually after retirement although we stay busy in other ministries. May God richly bless you and your family. In Christ, Edwina Goff Ken, There's a lot I could say, but I'll cut it short by saying that over the last couple of years I've had some difficult and some amazing experiences in my walk with God. A lot of people have been used by Him to influence me in the right direction. I didn't think sandals came THAT large! I'd like to thank you for being you, but more I thank God for your ministry. Keep Shufflin! G.H. Ken, It's me again, (Matthew Lee)! You know the one with the court thing going on. Well, come to find out, the investigating officer has been put on a temporary leave of absence, which means, my court date has yet again been delayed. We know the vicinity of when it will be rescheduled. Sometime in late April or early May. I thank you for adding me to your prayer request page and I see it takes up a lot of room. If you ever need to remove me from it for someone in greater need than me, do not hesitate to erase it. Because I know that the Lord will guide me through my tough times no matter what the outcome is. I have been praying that His will be done, and that's exactly what's going to happen. I noticed that you are going to Israel, awesome. You are a wonderful person and God will continue to do great things in and through you. You were great when you preached our revival at Norton Park Baptist Church here in Smyrna, GA last year and I look forward to hearing you coming up at SuperWow99! You are one of the greatest motivational speakers I have ever heard in my life. Don't believe me, listen to this. I have a friend that I have known for about 6 years. In the last 2 years of his life he has been going to a rotten school, Osbourne, and it has really changed his life. He had gotten into drugs, alcohol, and especially cigarettes. But when he heard you at SuperWow98, it made him realize what he was doing was stupid and he changed for the better. But over time, he fell and he fell hard. I guess it's going to take another soul knocking preaching from you at SuperWow99. The first time I ever saw this man cry was at last years SuperWow! I can't tell you how much you mean to me and my church. We will follow you to whatever SuperWow you go to from now on. See you in Forte Walton! Your Friend, Matthew Lee Ken, It has been a long time since you were at Killarney Baptist Church in Winter Park Florida, but you have never been far from our thoughts and prayers. Gail and I have often thought of you and where your ministry had taken you. After all you were our first pastor as a newly married couple and you welcomed us in to the church. What a joy and a blessing it has been to see your ministry flourish. Your heart has always been to be an Evangelist, it is good to see how God has so richly blessed you. As for us, we have grown in the Lord as well. I was baptized at Killarney not long after you left. Through the years Gail and I have been Sunday School leaders; both Youth and Adult Sunday School teachers, Interim Youth directors, Sunday School Director, and I was blessed in being ordained as a Deacon and privileged to serve for 4 years at First Baptist Oviedo near Orlando where we served for the last 16 years. Both of our daughters have been saved and baptized. About a year ago, our youngest daughter graduated from High School, and a job opportunity in Tallahassee became a reality of God's blessings on us. I now work for General Dynamics as a Program Engineer and Gail is a Earth Space Science teacher at Lincoln High School. Our oldest daughter, Christie is attending University of Florida, (followed Mom and Dad's footsteps) and is active in the BSU there. Christie is engaged to a young Christian man she met at the BSU. They both are highly involved in the music and youth ministries at their church in High Springs Florida. They will be married in ~1 year. Angie, our youngest, is still at home attending Tallahassee Community College and working at a local mall in retail. Thank you for blessing us this week at TRBC with your messages. May God continue to Bless You, Your Ministry and Your Family. Wayne Parsons Dear Ken - This week our niece, a student at Columbine High School, was spared and found safe after hiding in the school for four hours. She was in the science room with the teacher who died helping the children. Her name is Sarah Wood, and she is 16 years old. Physically, she is fine; emotionally, time will tell. Understandably this has affected the entire family and they are looking for guidance from above. How can we help them? Where can they be directed to start the healing process? Your thoughts and and teachings have meant so much to us. We thought that they could help Sarah and her family too. We appreciate every thing you do. James and Nancy Wood Ken Thanks for speaking and sharing with us at the Woods/Knickman Leadership weekend in Atlanta. You certainly are inspiring. I enjoyed your talk on Friday night and service on Sunday, but the best is getting to talk directly to you (live, in person) on Saturday afternoon in the hallway. Keep on keeping on... you're the best! from the Buffalo ZOO!!! Ken I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for your wonderful, wise and funny presentation in Atlanta for the Wood's/Knickman Leadership Conference last weekend! It meant so much for me to have my picture taken with you. As I told you when we talked (and if you remember my E-mail) my life is anything but easy right now. I cannot express to you how much your ministries mean to me. I bought four of your tapes on the book of Luke and am enjoying them greatly! Thanks again and God Bless! Jo Anne Guth Ken, Thank you for leading the Festival of Hope at First Baptist Church, Newnan. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the four times we heard you. You are amazing. God has truely blessed you. Even a Methodist like me can appreciate your words about the only words that really matter- God's. Please hurry back to Newnan soon. By the way, your web site is very cool. Thanks again, Matt Jackson I listened to you preach today at FBC Newnan. You were awesome. You really touched me. I haven't been going to church like I should. I'm disappointed in myself, and that is why I made a pledge to myself to go to church and get as much out of the sermon as I possibly can every Sunday. I've heard so many wonderful things about you and now I know from experience that they are all true. I read your web page, and it answered a lot of my questions, but you don't have to send me a dollar. Thank you for helping me become closer to God. May God bless you in all that you do. Love, Erin Jennings Newnan, GA After the event this year I was glad to hear you had a web site. I'll use this opportunity to thank you for another blessed event at the Cove. I do hope you will make good on your promise to join the men of Providence at the Cove each year whether you are speaking or not. Your presence makes the event special for many of us. I also want to let you know that because of your presence this year I was able to make the weekend a special family affair. After last year I sent your tapes to my brother-in-law and my new son-in-law and asked them to join me this year along with my son. Both accepted the invitation and the four of us had a great time with the Lord in the mountains. You have a special gift to speak to men and I could only guess, but with some confidence that many men have come to the Lord through you. God Bless. Gary Kirby Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your talk this weekend. It was so uplifting for me and my husband, Dan. We also bought the book and both of us have started reading it. I was raised in The Church of Christ and he was brought up Catholic. He has been attending my church for 2 years. People like you and the other coaches and speakers at the clinic are really positive stops on our journey to becoming a strong Christian couple. Thank you again, Georgia and Dan Ritter (CARAVEL ACADEMY, Bear DE) Dear Brother, I want you to know what a difference you make in our lives. I know in the last service when all the families got together and prayed for each other it was a very moving experience that will change the lives of the youth, parents. I also had my children's grand-parents with us at the alter. We are going to start praying together more often like that. I know it will change our lives. I know this when a Man of God can make me laugh and cry on the same night he as touched my heart in best way possible. I want to thank God for you and your wife. In His Will Dale Dixon Ken, Thank you for letting the Lord work through you to bless Apex Baptist this week. We are trying to work out a visit to Augusta and see you Sunday morning, 11 Apr 99. Dayspring is a church on the rebound. From a mega "Jesus church" in the 70s to lots of heartbreak in the 80s and 90s. I was the chairman of the pastor search committee that brought Jackie Perkins to Dayspring in 1995. He has laid a great foundation. I think that they may be ready for the next step, but perhaps don't know how to take it. Be in prayer for your message, your leadership, and their discernment. You're a perfect fit for that congregation. I'll be praying for your time with them. They are precious people, your encouragement will go a long way. Jackie is a wild man, you'll have fun with him like you had with Phil. Go with the Lord, The David Craft family in the US Army Dear Mr.. Smith, HI , my name is Aaron . I 'm an 8th grader . I think it's great , the way you work with youth . I was at the Youth Evangelism Conference and you really touched my heart . Well I ' ve got to go. In Christian love, AARON CONERLY Dear Ken, Just a note to say hello and to tell you how much you meant to me and my family during the revival at First Baptist Quitman. Sad to say, it's been a while since I can remember that I couldn't wait to get back to church and I hated to see it end. You are truly blessed by God and are able to touch so many different age groups. I hope we are able to have you back in our church again. To refresh your memory, my son, Justin Palmer is the large, tall guy that during your sermon you walked over and used him during your illustration. (You told him not to jump when you touch him and you put your hands on his head) You also went to his school and talked to the football players and he talked to you personally about playing college ball. I cannot tell you what a difference those 4 short days made in his life as well as the rest of us. He has been more encouraged and motivated since he was able to talk to you. I bought 4 of your books and gave them to 4 special men in my life. Justin reads his daily. Please pray for him as he is now a Jr. in high school, that God will direct him in his choices for his future with school and ball. I also have a 12 yr old, his name is Blake Palmer. I'm not sure if you would remember him talking to you and you signing his book. The verses you put in both of their books were fitting, which confirms God's hand in your life. Please pray for Blake as well, he is at a very critical age also and needs to make sure he puts God in his life and his decision making to. Both of my boys have been saved which is an answer to my prayers. In your sermon when you mentioned how you can feel so alone when you go through divorce really hit home. I am from Quitman but going through my divorce was very hard and at times I still don't know where I fit. I went down during the intercessory prayer, asking God to make me a better person, wife, mother, step-mother and for me to be obedient in all areas of my life. I had lost my closer walk with God while we were living in England recently. (we moved with my husbands job for 2 1/2 yrs. and returned this past Aug.--oil co.) When we first moved, I had such a hunger for a good church to attend but never really found what we were looking for. We did go to a small Baptist church but they did not seem the same. I still felt like it was important to go and keep the kids faithful. As time went on, I lost that hunger that I needed then God got my attention--naturally being a Mom it was through my children. Justin was unhappy in England and decided to move back to the states with his Dad, I thought I would die. The last 1 1/2 yrs. here was here and I was there. The only way I got through that was on my knees in prayer and like so many times God answered my prayers with his love and protection over Justin while we were apart. We returned when school had already started and football season going and Justin decided to stay on with his Dad, but through more prayer I was ok with that. Justin decided to move back with us in Dec. during the Christmas break which was another answered prayer. He has told me things that he did while living with his Dad which confirms even more that God had his angels protecting him. He is doing great now in school and seems to have learned a lesson from his ways while we were apart. Please pray with me that God will direct my boys in their daily lives. I want them to be Godly men, husbands one day, Dads one day, friends and to be the spiritual leader of their home. When you mentioned the note your wife put in your coat pocket I couldn't help but smile. My husband and I do the same thing, he had to leave Monday and go out of town but left me 2 notes of reminders of his love for me. I have been blessed with a wonderful man and couldn't ask for a better step-father to my children. I will try to keep up with your comings and goings and hopefully get to hear you again in the future. I plan to order your book for parents. Please say a prayer for my Dad, he has been diagnosed with Alzheimers and Lewy Bodies Disease (deteriorates the brain faster) as well as my Mom as she has to take care of him each day. We will remember you in our prayers also. Thank you for the blessing God worked through you at First Baptist, I pray we keep the spirit alive. Your friend, Rosemary Gipson Dear Ken Smith, I want to thank you for changing my life at th Youth Evangelism Confrence at Mississippi College in Jan. After I heard you I have had a stronger Christian walk and I just wanted to thank you. Sincerely, Timothy Luke. Hey Ken, My wife and I just wanted to say thanks for your encouraging words at the Novartis regional meeting. To refresh your memory, we both work for the company and we graduated from THE Florida State University where we had the privilege to hear an share with our dear friend and pastor, Clint Purvis. You referenced your marriage counseling in the meeting and my wife received a nice dose of your knowledge in that arena. I just wanted to let you know that you were the highlight of our week and we are very glad to have "Richie" working with us. God has obviously blessed and anointed you and we just wanted to say thanks. Please let us know if you are ever in Jacksonville, Florida as you will always have a place to stay. May God bless you and your family as you continue to do his will. Sincerely, Joye and Jeff McCrea God is so very good that I tremble sometimes in His prescence...I desire to do that all the time... Tampa was among the most amazing things I have ever been a part of ...KEN Greetings Ken! It was great to hear from you! Yes, as soon as we got home from Free Enterprise in Tampa, I went to your web site that you gave during our breakout section. Needless to say, I love it. Keep up your loving self. I look forward to meeting you at the next function that we both are at. Do you know if you are going to be at Leadership in Atlanta on April 16-18? When my time comes to leave this world, I want my epitaph to read:" The world is a better place because he came." I still need to do more to earn that, but you are already there. Stay Happy. Again I was so blessed by your talks at the Amway convention. The Lord always uses you in a mighty way to reach me where I'm at. It was so wonderful to see the altar filled with people coming to know the Lord in a more intimate way. I pray that many came to know Him and that those that knew Him would be touched in a very special way with a new and closer walk. I thank you for making yourself available for us at these conventions, the Lord is using you mightily. In His Love, Trudy Dear Ken Smith: I have just returned home from Free Enterprise. It is always very exciting to listen to all the speakers, but I always look forward to hearing you speak. Fortunately I heard you speak at the breakout session on Saturday. Your encouraging words that I hear on Amvox always "make my day", they remind me how special each one of us are to God, but most importantly they allow me to reflect on myself and the path I am walking. In closing I would like to say "Thank You". I had purchased your book, The Other Side of Gamecock Football, on Friday. On Saturday, my very good friend and upline, Jim McKinley had mentioned you were autographing your book. He knows I am always looking in bookstores for your writings & audio tapes. I told him "That's just my luck". - To my surprise he had purchased another copy of the book and had you autograph it to me. I hugged him and thanked him. I guess that's God's way of showing me "my luck". He also had your web site included on the back cover. It is good to know I can order what I have been looking for since I first heard you speak over a year ago. And also read about your work and words. Take care and God Bless. Anthony Sapienza Amway Distributor I was at your conference this weekend at Mississippi College. I came with Colonial Baptist Church. We came from Memphis,TN. The only reason we came to the conference was to hear you preach. I thought you were an awesome speaker. My youth minister heard you his first year as a youth minister. That is where he got the childen's books. The most exiting part about you speaking was trying to find where you were. You were a great speaker and don't forget to write me back. In Christ Name, Jeffrey Morris Hi. My name is Mindy Espey and I attended the Youth Evangelism conference at Mississippi College on December 28 - 29. I really enjoyed the whole conference. In fact, I thought it was the best conference I had been too. Most of all, I enjoyed getting to hear you speak. God really opened my eyes to a lot of things while I was there. I came there as a Christian who stood strong in my faith, but I was down about some stuff and getting discouraged by a lot of other things that was going on. I left the Conference with a renewed sense of Faith, leaving all of my worries to God. Even now as I type this I realize that the reason why this was the best conference I'd ever been to because I came there with my heart open ready to learn something, when I attended other conferences for wrong reasons. I believed in my heart that God had a purpose for me being there, and I found out what that purpose was. I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed hearing you speak and I hope that I will one day get another opportunity to hear you. Love In Christ, Mindy I really enjoyed you at Mississippi college. I was about to give up on my youth after Monday night but after God spoke through you to me I realized the devil was trying to move in to my minister. You are super. New years eve we had a youth night at the church where I go and three got saved. THANKS AGAIN Stanley Martin p.s. next time I would like to see the pictures of your grandbaby. Dear Ken Smith, I was one of the chaperones for the youth conference in Clinton at MS college. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed listening to you speak there. Many of the kids there can relate to the style of teaching that you use and the relaxed way in which you do your message really catches attention. I loved it. I began thinking about what you said about being short with the clerk at Wal Mart, and how you found out about her husband passing away. That story really touched me because I thought about all the times I have missed opportunities to witness because I was in a hurry or aggravated or whatever. Thank you for sharing with us. You touched a lot of lives. I will pray that you can continue to minister to others the way you did to us this past week. God bless you. Sincerely, Allyson Tolar Dear Mr. Smith, I would like to think you for preaching in Jackson the other week. Your Sermon really moved me. I know Jesus is my Lord and savior but, you caused me to reeducate my life. I so glad that I got to go I would not have missed that for the world. I wish there more preachers like you. I wish you could come to my church and preach because they did not come to Jackson. I went with my friends church put they would love you. You make the sermon interesting. I pray for you and hope you can win more people to Jesus. god bless you and love you. Sincerely, Brittani Smith I was at your confrence at Mississippi College. I came with Colonial Baptist Church. We came from Memphis,TN. The only reason we came to the confrence was to hear you preach. I thought you were an awsome speaker. My youth minister heard you his first year as a youth minister. That is where he got the childens books. The most exiting part about you speaking was trying to find where you were. You were a great speaker and don't forget to write me back. Have a happy New Year. In Christ Name, Jeffrey Morris |
| My dad was there
with us and he said you were one of the best preachers he had heard in a long
time. We both loved your style of preaching. Well have a good time at your next
place you preach. Marshall |
