See you Here, There or In The Air

Welcome to Ken Smith Ministries!
Welcome to the Web Site of an old friend you have not met or maybe you have… I want to thank you for coming by here to visit. You probably came because we met, or you stumbled on us… at any rate the quote at the top is what we have based our ministry on for over 30 years. As a pastor and an itinerant bible Teacher I have tried to say the "box" we are in has served us well but it is time to get out of the box. We need to figure out how to impact a world that desperately needs the good news of Jesus. I am in a local church serving as pastor while continuing to travel and teach for FCA and do bible conferences in churches. I love men' s conferences and think this is my niche. Let me answer questions, I am the guy who pastured in Houston, Ms, Winter Park, FL, Miami, Tallahassee, Gainesville and Pompano Beach. I even was fired at First Baptist in Greenville, MS ( a story I am trying to forget.) I have done youth camps in Georgia (Super Wow) and North Carolina ( Caswell) and I am currently serving at FBC in Wauchula Fl.

Yes I still travel and do conferences … time permitting and I am booked until Fall so far this year as a pastor I have a limited number of Sundays I can be away… ,

Please pray for us and continue to be our support in the day

A Quote From George McCloud
"I simply argue that the cross be raised in the middle of the marketplace. For Jesus was not crucified in a church between two candles but on a cross between two thieves. A place so cosmopolitan they had to write his name in 3 languages: Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic. ( we could say Spanish, Islam, English today). It was the town garbage heap. Where thieves cursed, cynics hurled insults, soldiers gambled. That is where he chose to die and those are the people he chose to die for ... and that is where the church to be and those are the people we ought to care for as well. " George McCloud

A  Welcome    Letter   From   Ken

Thanks for coming by the website for Ken Smith Ministries. I am so appreciative that you have come… I hope you find what you are looking for as you spend some time here.

Ken Smith Ministries is almost 20 years young. We started after about 22 years as a teacher, coach and pastor. I finished my last pastorate at the First Baptist Church at Pompano Beach. I served at Covenant Baptist in Gainesville, Fellowship Baptist in Tallahassee, First Baptist of South Miami and Killarney Baptist in Winter Park but really started after Seminary as a youth minister before going to MSU to do counseling work and there served as pastor of Arbor Grove Baptist Church which I still call the "best days of my ministry…" I will be buried there so you will see it if you come to the funeral.

I started this ministry as a result of my belief that the church has to escape the fortress of the church and connect with the world. Findley Edge pushed me all of my days to find "authentic Christianity"; I call it one that is vital and speaks to those outside the walls of the church. I love the ministry I have with FCA and the marketplace stuff I do as well. I think the church has to reassess it strategy in two places. The first is in the whole area of Spiritual Formation must be addressed because we have done a very poor job teaching Regenerative living. We are trying to business of a spiritual nature with a lot of folks who became members of a church because they said yes to questions or laws but did not have a conversion experience that grew out of a repentant heart and thus were made new creatures who were in process. (Phil 1:6) Growth is not taking place in many lives and the call to Sanctification is weak at best. The second area has to do with reaching the "lost" those outside the faith. We do not even speak a language that they understand and often never connect or interact with them at all. The fortress mentality continues to dominate Christian thinking.

My ministry is designed to challenge and educate in both areas. I love the fact that I still preach in all kinds of churches and settings and would love to come and be at your place. We are booking 2008 now and will soon be full. Call or write quickly and let's see what God can do when we show up seeking Him and teaching His word.

On the site you can find biographical stuff, you can find pictures, quotes and resources. You can see my schedule and read the coaches corner… I hope you will also sign the guest book… thanks for coming by….

Come by often and read the "Almost Daily Diary" and become a prayer partner with us as well.
I am so excited about so many things that are happening around me. I love the way that things are going in the church that may mean some important changes later. Stand by...I am also excited about some events that I will be leading this spring. The next one is a prayer Breakfast in Marco Island and I will look forward to that one then I will be in Carson Newman for their coaches confernce in February. Last weekend to be exact. March will allow me to do 4 events that are some of my favorite. The FCA banquet at Cookeville with and old friend Noel Cherry. Then on to Monroe, GA. and a men's event and then Waynesboro for a Steakout with Keith Alderman. I will be doing all of that in one week... busy ... like the old days.

But certainly my most exciting event is the Men's retreat for Providence Baptist Church that will be at the Cove. What a great event this is and I have been doing it for a long time.. Raleigh guys I will look foward to this one ...

Then of course I must mention our Pastor's conference at Whitestone Inn. All the details are here on the site ... come and join us will you.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don't take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me again the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. "  Psalm 51:10-12 (NLT)
